Why use a cell phone to text? Ok – I know there are reasons like when you want to know the answer to a test question so you secretly text a friend? In church you want to know what’s for lunch? Oops, bad examples – don’t do those. I figure, if you want to know something – just call. So, I do very few textings… I only answer those that I can answer in 5 words or less. I do not have a text-friendly phone.
So I was surprised when I received a text a few weeks back. I had written a bulletin article about how we do not practice withdrawing of fellowship much in the church any more, but that withdrawing of fellowship does happen. It is usually not the church withdrawing fellowship from individuals as it individuals withdrawing from the church. The, I’ll show them… I just won’t go. And individuals who do that hurt themselves.
The only text I ever received that I have saved went something like this:
This is… (gives name)I am sorry I haven’t spoken to you in quite a while. I love you and miss you…God is helping and healing me. And, yes I have been following on the website “a word from Charles.”I do know that you are truly genuine and true. Please send me your email so we can keep in touch. Thank you so much for all of your teaching – or God’s teaching – through you. Have a wonderful Christmas. We love you. Bye – December 18, 2012
It is a precious text. It made my day. And, yes – I miss my friend and have fond memories and hours spent together. I still hope someday a full fellowship will be restored.
I hope the fellowship we have at SouthSide touches your heart and makes you want to enjoy it to the fullest.
Oh, yea – there is a pot luck today. Happy Birthday Velma – 87. Your years at SS are greatly appreciated and you are an inspiration to many.
