It’s Thursday. It’s the Day I write a bulletin article and send it off to Angela. I made the mistake of reading the GR Press first. Front page: Losing A License to Age. I’m not there, but it seems like it is closer than it was yesterday. Still a grim reminder as we think abut bringing someone new to SS, someone 27 years old… and I think, I’d like to be 27 again. So, growing depressed as I tried to think about a bulletin article… I started going through some more stuff in my office… I found a book.
Author: Dr. Seuss
Title: On Beyond Zebra
Said Conrad Cornelius o’Donald Dell… So now I know everything anyone knows
From beginning to end. From the start to the close,
Because Z is as far as the alphabet goes.
Then he almost fell flat on his face on the floor…
When I picked up the chalk and drew one letter more!
A letter he never had dreamed of before!
And I said, “You can stop, if you want, with the Z
Because most people stop with the Z — But not me!”
In the places I go there are things that I see
That I never could spell if I stopped with the Z.
I’m telling you this ‘cause you’re one of my friends.
My alphabet starts with your alphabet ends!
Hmmm… There’s more letters after Z? There’s more life after you lose your driver’s license to age? Ok, I am not going to suddenly disappear from the SS scene. I will slowly fade away. But being somewhat refreshed (I love the Phelemons of the world) I look forward to hopefully several more useful (Onesimus) years.
