The Most Depressing Day of the Year

It happened this past week, Mon, January 6 – the Most Depressing Day of the Year!

Why?  Several reasons were given.

First it was a Monday.  Mondays are often depressing.  No one likes a Monday.  Monday means back to work.

Second, it was a Monday after the holidays.  Many had been off work for several days enjoying good times with family and friends.

Third, it was a realization of how much money you had spent (charged) for Christmas and that soon you would be opening the bills.  Bills can make any day depressing, but these are larger bills than normal.

Fourth, you are waking up to a lack of sleep.  Many are sleep deprived because of New Year’s eve and a lot of late nights as you enjoyed time off.

Fifth, broken promises – already.  Many have already broken or given up on that list of resolutions for the New Year.

You don’t fit the mold, well, create your own reasons to be depressed.    And, that’s the key.  We make our own cup of misery.  We are the cause of depression.

Why not get more sleep?

Why not stick by a budget and not spend so much money – on stuff we don’t need?

Why not determine to live by those promises you made to create a better life?

Truth is we make the day, the day does not make us.

This is the day the Lord has made.  Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

The Lord even made Monday!
