This is the day… We can all finish this verse: the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Psalms 118:24
Don’t you wish you could live every day rejoicing in the day? It is difficult because all of have moods. Have you ever had someone say, You’re in a good mood. Or, You’re in a bad mood.
Years ago mood rings were popular. I suppose they are still around. Wear a mood ring and by the color of the ring people would be able to tell what kind of mood you are in. In a Peanuts cartoon Peppermint Patty gets so angry at Charlie Brown that her mood ring actually exploded. That’s a bad mood!
One woman was given a mood ring by her husband who complained of her mood swings. He figured he would be able to tell what kind of mood she was in by the ring. It worked. When she was in a good mood the ring turned green. When she was in a bad mood it left a nasty mark on his forehead!
In a Baby Blues cartoon the young daughter yells, The whole universe is against me! Dad asked what the whole universe did to her? Mom answers it forgot to wash her blue sweater.
Here’s a suggestion on how to avoid mood swings from the apostle Paul, Philippians 4:11-13:
I have learned in whatever state I’m in to be content.
I know how to be abased and I know how to abound…
In all circumstances I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger… abundance and want…
I can do all things in Him who strengthens me.
So: This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
