I’m not ducking the question, but that’s all I could come up with. I don’t watch cartoons much any more, but maybe there are a few new ones???
A major question in the Bible is: Are we saved by faith alone? John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. No doubt you have heard of many being saved by the Sinner’s Prayer. Instant salvation by accepting Jesus into your heart. We are saved not by what we do but by what God has done. There are many ways that it is taught.
James handles the question beautifully as he says:
2:17: So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.
2:18: Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith.
2:26: As the body apart from the spirit is dead, so faith apart from works is dead.
One man listening to the we are saved by faith alone teaching asked a simple question, What about the 7 ducks in the Bible? Confused, the preacher asked, What do you mean – 7 ducks? He replied when Naaman was cured of his leprosy he had to go to the Jordan River and duck 7 times. Them 7 ducks meant that obedience to God’s will was required! He believed AND obeyed. Faith alone didn’t save him.
