When Fred Meijer died there were several tributes to him for what he had done in the Grand Rapids area. Many of the things he did will live on for years to come. The Meijer Heart Center as a part of Spectrum Health and the Meijer Garden are a couple things that come to mind. It is butterfly time! A sure sign of spring is when the butterflies fly at the Meijer Garden! One of the tributes that was paid was Fred Meijer saying that Grand Rapids was a great place to raise a family. I believe that SouthSide is a great place to raise a family. It is a great place to raise faithful children to the Lord.
Let me share with you what was in the recent 2011 – A Year in Review in case you missed it:
We believe that Southside is a great place to raise a family where children grow to love and serve the Lord. Ryan O’Rourke attended Bible class at Southside. Today, Ryan and his wife are missionaries in Ireland. Kim Yonkers (Celaire) started attending Southside in the 2nd or 3rd grade. She came from an unchurched home. Today Kim is an Operating Room nurse in Winnipeg, Canada, married to a youth minister and faithfully serving the Lord. Natalie Young is a school teacher in Somerset, PA, married to a minister and serving the Lord in a mission point church. Al and Sharon Morningstar, who will soon be leaving us, raised their 4 children at Southside and they are all serving the Lord today where they live.
Admittedly it does not always work out that way, but when parents faithfully support the church and their children are involved in youth activities, it greatly increases their chances of being faithful to the Lord for life. We will continue to provide programs that allow youth and parents to make good choices on how to spend their time.
It’s an old public service announcement: It’s 11:00 o’clock. Do you know where your children are?
Do you know where your children will spend eternity?
