I read an interesting quote: The hardest hearts in this world are not among the ungodly, but among the Godly.
In the movie , The Godfather, Part 3, Don Corleone visits Cardinal Lambert to tell him that a legitimate business deal involving the Vatican Bank had gone bad. The bank is run by a coalition of Catholic businessmen and the Archbishop. The Cardinal listens to the Godfather and then says something very profound. He picks up a rock and says, Look at this stone. It has been lying in the water for a very long time. The water has not penetrated it. Then, he smashes the stone into small pieces. Look. It is perfectly dry. The same thing has happen to men. They have been surrounded by Christianity for centuries, but Christ does not live in their hearts!
I think of Christ preaching and teaching and the reaction of the Pharisees and Sadducees. They had been surrounded by the Temple and the Scriptures for years and years and years, but none of it had sunk in. The Scripture had not penetrated their hearts.
Ok, where does Christ live? That’s the question for each of us.
I serve a risen Savior, He’s in the world today…
I know that He is living, whatever men may say…
I see his hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer…
And just the time I need Him, He’s always near.
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.
