Our Lads2Leaders Kick off for our first year of participation begins on December 7, 2016 at 6PM. At this meeting the membership will learn about the various events that our congregation is going to participate in at Convention in Louisville, Kentucky for 2016. Lads is organized as a year long program. Each year operates from April to the following April and ends at Convention. Convention is always held on Easter weekend across the United States and the in the world.
This year our children will have the opportunity to participate in the following activities. For more details about each event click on the link.
Bible Bowl Team – This years bible bowl covers the books of Ruth, Ester and Job. The children will have 3 teachers, one for each book and will meet at 4 PM each Sunday unless otherwise noted on the Lads2Leaders Calendar. Ruth is being covered by Bruce DeGraves, Jordan Jones is covering Esther and Michael Tanksley is covering the book of Job.
Bible Bowl Individual Test will be administered by the Bible Bowl teachers listed above.
Song Leading and Songs of Praise Students who register for this event will practice their song leading on Sunday evenings immediately following evening worship, starting on January 8. They will only stay for a maximum of 10-15 minutes. Boys will practice upstairs with David Miller and girls will practice downstairs with Abby Medawar. They will regularly invite members of the congregation to stay and be a practice audience. This will occur every Sunday evening from January until convention. On Fellowship Meal Sundays, participants will rehearse following the 2pm devotional service. No males will be allowed in the basement while the girls are rehearsing.
Oral Bible Reading-Students who register for this event will practice their reading on Wednesday evenings immediately following bible class, starting on January 4. They will only stay for a maximum of 10-15 minutes. Boys will practice upstairs with Nathanael Kazmierczak and girls will practice downstairs with Kathy Pell. They will regularly invite members of the congregation to stay and be a practice audience. This will occur every Wednesday evening from January until convention. No males will be allowed in the basement while the girls are rehearsing.
Know the Books– is an event where the children will do the majority of their studying independently with their families. Freddie will also use KidSing time in January and February to help the kids prepare. When they are ready to test, they must see Melissa Brumbelow who is the “tester”. They will sing or recite the books of the bible and/or their themes for her by February 1st. If they are unable to do so by February 1st, they can try again for the next convention year.
